Joff Winks and Matt Baber will be the guests on tomorrow’s Interesting Alternative Show with Steve Davis on Pheonix FM. Steve has been a long standing supporter of all of the music here at TFS so you can expect a healthy dose of Nuns/Nunbient/JWB, along with a selection of some of the key influences that were behind the early recordings, plus, we will also be premiering a brand new Sanguine Hum song called Diving Bell which is still in the “rough mix” stage, but will give everyone an exciting glimpse into what to expect when the full album is released later this year. Show time is between 10pm and midnight!

As our audience at troopers for sound has been growing over the past few months we are getting more regular visits from Italy, the Netherlands and many more countries from around the world. This is largely due to the diligent work of a few dedicated prog bloggers and music writers who are helping us build a lager audience. So, in honour of the aforementioned writers, we are now listing all the european language reviews for our releases so you, dear reader, can enjoy finding out what the critiques think of the music in your native tongue.

Thank you to all the writers who continue to support our releases!

To kick the new year off with a bang we would like to ask for your support in winning a poll! This January on the Epileptic Gibbon Podcast Music Show we are fighting it out for the top position in Eppy’s best of 2009 poll. We have it on good authority that Antique Seeking Nuns/Sanguine Hum are doing rather well and this is where you come in. If you’re feeling generous and supportive then all you need do is send Eppy a message via e-mail stating your vote for two bands. We recommend Sanguine Hum and Nunbient, not that we’re biased in anyway you understand, thusly boosting our egos, umm, position to the number one slot!

Eppy can be found at: MySpace and www.epilepticgibbon.co.uk

Happy new year to all troopers for sound visitors and patrons and many thanks for all of your support in 2009.

So, as many readers will know, a few months ago Antique Seeking Nuns released Careful! It’s Tepid, the final part in their Triple Burst saga that brought the band to a fitting full stop. However, as you’re also probably aware, Sanguine Hum is picking up from where the Nuns left off, which leads us to the first release under the new band name: Sanguine Hum – plays the nuns. This three track download only release features two live Nuns classics and a first recording of Cat Factory, which up until now has not seen the light of day on any other release. In many ways this is a transitional recording paving the way for a full length Sanguine Hum album scheduled for release early in the summer of 2010.

We are pleased to announce that the last two Antique Seeking Nuns CDs, Double Egg and Careful! It’s Tepid are now available from Wayside Music online. If you have ever purchased rare and unique “progressive” music titles before then there’s a strong chance that you’ve already encountered Wayside and it’s sister label Cuneiform as they are often a prog/RIO/Zeuhl/Canterbury fan’s first point of contact for buying the finest music from around the world. Here’s what they have to say about us:

A band that managed to take some of the most quintessentially ‘British’ (and to my mind, the most charming) aspects of UK progressive rock (think the song stylings of Richard Sinclair with Caravan or Hatfield or early Robert Wyatt) and graft them onto a more contemporary sound that is perhaps a bit more avant-progressive in nature as well as including influences that have nothing to do with ‘progrock’ (Tortoise! Flaming Lips!, etc). What do you have? A total winner… Highly recommended!

And who are we to disagree with that! Wayside can be found here: www.waysidemusic.com
